Net-a-porter has revealed the launch of an exclusive retail partnership with J. Crew. The online retailer is teaming with the American label to create a 25-piece capsule collection that pays homage to Breton stripes, an all-time classic style and a J. Crew brand signature. The stripe has been reimagined in a variety of ways for the occasion, offering a collection that ranges from wardrobe staples to more playful, statement pieces; mirroring the usual mix for which J. Crew collections are known.

J. Crew president and creative director Jenna Lyons identified this mash-up of classic and fashion-forward pieces as the collection’s strength; “tradition and surprise — the magic is in the mix,” she said.

 

 

 

“When Net-a-porter suggested a stripe collaboration, it felt like they had handed us a golden goose. The Breton stripe has long been a tradition for European culture, as well as American fashion. We had more ideas than room on the floor,” said Lyons. “The edit, which is Net-a-porter’s strong point, is the result of an extremely fun collaboration. My favorite pieces are the craziest — the bias-striped fur coat, and the most simple — a striped boatneck T-shirt with a tulle hem.”

A campaign starring French model and actress Aymeline Valade is featured on the website to promote the capsule collection’s launch.
