They literally just dropped the bomb on us that they were doing a hotel, now MUJI have opened their first ever grocery store.
Situated Japanese capital Tokyo, the world’s first MUJI grocery store is located in the brand’s newly renovated flagship. Spanning across 108-square-feet, the space will be a purveyor of fresh produce and will be accompanied by signs that share information on the local food’s origins, as well as various season-specific methods on how to eat them.
“The goal of the vegetable/fruit market we created is to offer an opportunity for the customers to think about the producers and the places where the food came from, and review their relationship with food,” a MUJI spokesperson explained to designboom. “We will be offering vegetables with their inherent flavors, even if they do not meet the standards of shape and size.”
