Christie’s on King Street in London is showcasing over 400 items from Audrey Hepburn‘s personal wardrobe, as well as original movie scripts and photographs. The collection is an fashion-filled archive chronicling the life of the film icon. The collection will go up for auction in London today (September 27), alongside an online sale which is operating until October 3.
Audrey Hepburn is one of the few people in the world who truly embodies timelessness. Her iconic black slim pants and cropped jumper are just as chic now as they were in Funny Face in 1957. Some highlights within the archives include a personal Burberry raincoat and a Givenchy couture blue satin cocktail gown, which is estimated to sell for £10,000-15,000. In December 2006, Holly Golightly’s black satin Givenchy gown sold at Christie’s Kensington for a cool £456,200 (yeah, that’s over one million $AUD). In total there are over 20 vintage Givenchy garments and accessories that will be put forward for auction.
Other personal items include Hepburn’s own annotated Breakfast at Tiffany’s script (estimated to sell at £60,000-80,000), as well as a collection of her signature ballet flats.
“It is with great joy that we seek to share her spirit, through this sale, and its related previews,” explained Luca Dotti and Sean Hepburn Ferrer, Audrey Hepburn’s sons.
