Chanel has opened its first dedicated shoe boutique in the United States. The Ala Moana Center in Honolulu, Hawaii now boasts a 1,100 square feet footwear salon to house the entirety of the maison’s extensive collection. New York architect Peter Marino was the creative force behind the store’s interior concept, which balances the laid-back breezy aura of Hawaii using design elements inspired by Coco’s Parisian apartment on rue Cambon. Bright pink, purple, and green soft furnishings reflect the local culture in contrast with Chanel’s signature black and white aesthetic. The entry wall welcomes customers with an impressive custom-made, 24K gold leaf display, however the real treat is artwork by Shelter Serra, Peter Dayton, and Curtis Jeré that’s displayed throughout the space.
