Chanel fragrances are some of the best-known and loved scents on the planet – who hasn’t worn No.5, Chance or Coco at least once in their life? So taking a mere 15 years between fragrance launches seems like no time at all when you’re developing what will surely become a fragrance icon and especially if you’re calling on the DNA of the brand – fascinating founder Gabrielle Chanel, for inspiration.

Chanel’s in-house perfumer, Olivier Polge is the genius nose behind the stellar new scent – which according to statement aims to “…convey the full personality of Gabrielle, her public and private facets, her untameable temperament and her loving soul. Flying in the face of social conventions, Gabrielle Chanel is a fragrance for a women who chooses her own path.” Chanel was a true disrupter starting a huge fashion and style brand in a time when women weren’t encouraged to be in business and the new fragrance is all about capturing that rebellious spirit.

As for the scent, Polge has describes it as an “abstract floral” containing all the most beautiful white florals including ylang ylang, jasmine, orange blossom and tuberose from Grasse. The bottle looks the same/same but different with signature square No.5-style bottle but with a bevelled surface and gold accents.  Gabrielle Chanel will be on counter August 31, 2017.
