Can you imagine how somebody inspired by Oman’s unique architecture and Arabic arches can bring those motives into clothing? And what is even more surprisingly, to add fur details to these clothes! Have a look at Amal Al Raisi’s Autumn/Winter 2017 collection, which is the result of her partnership with premium furrier Kopenhagen Fur. It features charming fur details in the form of pom poms, collar adornments and embellishment highlights.
It all started when Amal Al Raisi was invited by Kopenhagen Fur to take part in a design workshop at their headquarters in Copenhagen. “The collection is inspired by Omani architecture with light fabrics suitable for the mild Gulf winter, which I contrasted with warm autumnal hues and velvet fabrications relevant to the cold temperatures experienced in Europe and beyond. The partnership worked out perfectly for this collection as the fur details elevate the styles and harmoniously tie East with West, I’m thrilled with the outcome!”, says Amal Al Raisi. The collection captures a timeless sensibility through fluid silhouettes and luxurious details exuding modern femininity. The sophisticated color palette consists of white, blush, burgundy and navy while fine pinstripes in silver and bronze illustrate the graphic lines representative of Omani architecture.
It is not the first collaboration for Kopenhagen Fur Studio. As they say, the brand collaborations are intended primarily for companies with no or limited experience in the use of fur as a material in their collections with the aim of making fur more accessible to consumers. ‘We invited Amal Al Raisi because we are always eager to support the creative and innovative use of fur on the international fashion scene. And that is exactly what Amal Al Raisi’s designs represent. We paired her with one of our skilled furriers who introduced Amal to the technical aspects of designing fur. Amal instantly gained from the experience as her creative insights effortlessly adapted fur into her designs,’ says Julie Maria Christensen, VP, Design and Creativity, Kopenhagen Fur.
The collection was already presented as part of Torino Fashion Week’s modest fashion category, which brings the best of modest fashion trends to key media, buyers, influencers and fashion industry insiders interested in this growing market. Amal Al Raisi was awarded 2nd place in the Luxury Awards category by Sommet International de la Mode, and the prize includes a trip to Paris to display her collection in front of buyers, press and top luxury companies.
Looking forward to see Autumn/Winter 2017 collection in Gulf! It will be available from September, 2017 at Amal Al Raisi boutique in Muscat and at selected retailers.
