La Come Di is a unique Dubai based fashion label and the creative concoction of 2 cool dudes with advertising backgrounds; Elisa Arienti & Feras Sobh.
We spend 5 minutes with the guys and pick their brains about their new it-label.
What does La Come Di mean and who are you guys?
In Italian, La Come Di literally means “the like of”…non sense right? That’s the boring part. The name was actually inspired by a song of the great Italian musician Paolo Conte. We liked how it sounds, like ‘Comedy’ in English with a pretentious ‘La’ in front of it. That attitude carries itself through and represents the youth’s versatility of style and character. It escapes the norm by presenting a variety of styles, designs and stories. That’s why everybody should have some La Come Di in their lives.
Feras graduated from the American University of Sharjah with a bachelor degree in Visual Communication and Elisa carries a master degree in Art Direction from Milan, Italy. We met each other in the fancy world of advertising here in Dubai and something clicked creatively. Combined we have experience that vary from design, art direction, photography and illustrations. We feel LCD is a product of passion and connection to different backgrounds and stories to help our customers feel something when they purchase and wear our pieces.
How long have you lived here in UAE and how long have you been working on LCD?
Feras is been in the country more than 10 years, Elisa almost 4.
We started LCD in Feb 2016 after breaking up with the advertising world. It took us one year of trial and error to develop and bring to the public our products. Designers can be really picky you know 🙂
How often can we expect to see new collections from LCD?
We are starting off by having the two main seasons of S/S and A/W to see how we go, with the plan of creating more in the future. We just launched our Online Store lacomedi.com, where you can find SS17 with three different collections.
Describe the La Come Di client
Come as you are! Our products are easy to wear but colourful enough to stand out. The LCD client is probably young at heart and daring, but whatever is his/her story we are sure they would find something that fits their personality.
Is the long-term plan to focus purely on e-commerce, or can we find you in boutiques and stores in Dubai?
The long term plan is to be part of many different realities. We love the idea of having an online store that sells all over the world, on the other hand we definitely want to expand in our sunny hometown and bring LCD pop-up stores to markets and local funky shops. It’s incredible how the city grows each year in term of design. There’s a lot of awesome stuff out there and being part of it it’s our goal.
