2017 marks the official 20th year anniversary of Princess Diana’s death – and there’s a special holiday being planned in her honour

At first, it’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since the death of Princess Diana, but consider that in 1997 the Spice Girls were still together and at the height of their stardom… and maybe it was a long time ago? At any rate, to mark the 20 year anniversary of the loss of the People’s Princess, charity organisation The Diana Award will host a series of year-long events aimed at promoting the very qualities Diana was known for: compassion, kindness and service.

Kicking off with a National Kindness Day in March, the initiative will also include an exhibition at Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer’s home called Walking in Her Shoes. The Diana Award also plans to honour 20 young people from around the world who demonstrate the same humanitarian values as the late Princess. They’re inviting nominations for people aged 9-18 be to put forward for an international Legacy Award.
